Dial and hands
Looking at the dial is looking back at the history of divers of the 40s and 50s. It is a vintage made and looking sandwich dial, no date window!! and just showing us the time. At the upper halve the Heroic18 logo is prnted. At the 9 o ‘clock position a small circle with Special Edition is printed and on the 6 o ‘clock position it is marked Heroic18 automatic. And the interesting printing is of course?……..Yes, Swiss Made!! For a watch or movement to legally have the “Swiss Made” designation upon it, the watch or movement does not have to be made or assembled completely in Switzerland. In fact, only a certain percentage of the components must be made in Switzerland, and the watch does not need to be put together in Switzerland. On the hand and dial C3 super luminova is used for clear visibility at 500meters depth.
Like I mentioned, it is a Swiss Made watch meaning in this case there is a Swiss movement under the hood. Not the standard ETA 2824, no they used the Sellita SW200-1 movement. Almost similar to the ETA 2824. Since ETA i slowing down production, this movement is the best Swiss alternative. In fact, they have made movements for ETA in past. So it is a 28800 bph 25 jewels movement.
Straps and package
And here we go agian. As you know I am not that enthousiastic about leather straps on a diving watch. VDB f.e. delivers a leather and a rubber strap, and that is oke. You must have a rubber strap included in a package like this. Heroic18 delivers two (2) leather straps, an Italian in olive green and a brown shark strap. The quality is very nice, specially the Itilan strap is very well executed. But, instead of two (2) leather straps Il would have like 1 rubber strap. Of course a CuSn bronze buckle is included. The watch is very well packed in a beautiful wooden box, warranty booklet and a set of extra push pins.
