In the short existence of Frederique Constant, in comparison to other brands, they are working hard to earn and set there position as a top manufacture in watchmaking. With the Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase Manufacture, which is introduced this autumn, they are strengthen there position. At Watchinsight we had the pleasure to have an user experience with the Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase Manufacture.

The watch looks classical and can be categorized as as typical dress-watch although the 42 mm diameter of the case gives the watch an own and somewhat modern identity.

The stainless case is beautiful polished, has an excellent finishing and detail. Thru a see-through screw down back you can see the in-house fabricated movement with at least 80% of the components also made in-house. It’s water-resitant to 3 atm and has a convex sapphire crystel.

The design of the case and crown is beautiful. But due to the position of the lugs and the position of the back case the watch will not be comfortable to wear for everyone, as we could experience.

The ivory colored dial with sunray decoration and applied silver colour indexes gives the watch a crisp, elegant and clear view.

At six o’clock you can find date and moonphase. The moonphase indicates a new moon to full moon and back again in a periode of 29.5 days.

The minute hand has a nice detail because the end of the hand is bended towards the dial.

In my opinion the design of the dial should have been a little bit more exciting corresponding the watch case.

The movement used for this model is the FC-705 Manufacture caliber. It’s an automatic movement with date and moonphase, adjustable with the crown. The movement is entirely in-house developed, in-house manufactured and in-house assembled and has Perlage & Circular Côtes de Genève decoration.

The movement operates at a frequency of 28’800 alt/h and has 48 hours of power reserve.

At this price range there aren’t many watch brands that can offer such an in-house movement.

Final thoughts

The Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase Manufacture is not the watch to put on when your are wearing jeans or when you are on an active weekend. The ivory dail and black leather alligator strap makes the watch more classical then is desirable. But at a price of 2795 euro the Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase Manufacture is an very interesting watch. Certainly with the in-house movement.
