Rare and instantly recognizable by its oval-shaped case, the Girard Perregaux Cat’s Eye collection is a reference for women who pay keen interest to the delicacy of Haute Horlogerie watches.
This year at Baselworld Girard Perregaux is releasing two new Cat’s eye models for women.
The Cat’s Eye Collection Celebrates 10 Years
The new Cat’s Eye Anniversary watch celebrates the collection’s ten year anniversary with a dial blanketed in shimmering, metallic rays. Available in two versions, it offers eye-catching motifs exploding with precious gems. The Swiss Manufacture invites all lovers of fine watchmaking to be carried away by their glittering auras.
The black version features a hand-polished onyx dial and 73 brilliant-cut diamonds. On the opaline version, the rays shine forth from a hand-polished white mother-of-pearl background that has been dyed gray. They also feature 73 sapphires at their tips in shades ranging from bright to pastel pink.
Made of white gold, the iconic oblong case of the Cat’s Eye collection is adorned with 62 brilliant-cut diamonds set around the bezel. It also features a domed anti-glare sapphire crystal. The open case-back of this special edition is engraved with the words “10th Anniversary” and reveals the refined interior of the GP03300 mechanical Manufacture movement with automatic winding. Conceived, manufactured and assembled in the Manufacture’s workshops, its pink gold oscillating weight is engraved with the letters “GP” to create a tapestry-like decor with pearlescent bridges and mainplate. It features hour and minute functions and offers 46 hours of power reserve.
Especially fine and delicate, the black or garnet alligator strap is closed by a white gold folding buckle.
The Cat’s Eye Collection
Historical Swiss watch Manufacture Girard-Perregaux has selected the poetry of an exquisite flower to adorn the dials of its new steel collection: the peony. A generous flower boasting captivating beauty, it tops the various dial versions of this model named the Cat’s Eye Bloom.
The peonies of the Cat’s Eye Bloom watch seem to bloom forth from its dial. Fine and fragile, they appear in the form of lace that is overlaid onto a hand-polished beige or natural white (depending on the model) mother-of-pearl dial. To accomplish this, the Manufacture Girard-Perregaux developed a new way of using a well-known method. Each embroidery-like design consists of seven layers of material that are successively applied to create volume and the desired three-dimensional effect. Depending on the model, the second-to-last layer is also given either a gold or silver powder coating to create a shiny effect. Comparable to three-dimensional printing, this process showcases the spirit of discovery that is unique to Girard-Perregaux. The reference to lace is also seen in the “net motif” style background that covers the entire dial case-back.
Made from delicately polished steel, the oval case is set with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel and is fitted with a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Its open case-back reveals the refined interior of the GP03300 mechanical movement with self-winding. Conceived, manufactured and assembled in the Manufacture’s workshops, its steel oscillating weight is engraved with the letters “GP” to create a tapestry–like decor with pearlescent bridges and mainplate. It features hour and minute functions and offers 46 hours of power reserve.
Especially fine and delicate, the grey or beige alligator strap is closed by a steel folding buckle.
