Jacob & CO Epic x chrono

This year, Jacob & Co. introduces its own exclusive chronograph in the EPIC X collection, the perfect home for such a sporting complication. Seeing the chronograph operate, in all its skeletonized glory, is a real visual treat, whether you are timing your morning run, your commute to the office or how long you’ve been waiting in line at the airport check-in.

The Epic X watches are modern versions of one of the most traditional forms of watchmaking: the open-worked, or skeletonized, watch, where the movement is visible both through the dial and the back of the watch, and, as well, has had as much metal removed as possible without compromising the functionality of the movement. The goal of the craftsperson making an open-worked watch is to achieve the highest level of transparency possible, and it’s this combination of visual lightness with structural integrity that gives this type of watchmaking its fascination.

The EPIC X Chrono comes in a 44mm Micro Blasted and Satin-finished Grade 5 Titanium case. The engine powering the EPIC X Chrono is the famous Venus column-wheel chronograph movement, widely considered the most beautiful movement ever designed. Luckily, the masterful open-working of the watch lays the distinctive and fascinating movement architecture of the iconic Venus movement open for all to see.

The traditional three subdial layout (minutes, hours and running seconds) is especially attractive with the incredible open-working done by the artisans of Jacob & Co. The light plays over the different elements of the movement, catching the different angles and layers. Watching the chronograph in action as you activate the pushers to start and stop the function is mesmerizing – a true piece of kinetic mechanical art on your wrist.

The EPIC X Chrono is a natural evolution of the EPIC X Collection, reinforcing the sporting purpose of this collection and Jacob & Co.’s commitment to high watchmaking.
