Last Year at BaselWorld Jacob&CO introduced the EPIC SF24. This year they expand the SF24 collections with the Black PVD/Blue Version
Jacob & Co., recognized as the “Master of World Time”, loves to move in new and different directions. One of the undeniable highlights of the 2013 BaselWorld show was the EPIC SF24, a technological breakthrough in travel time display. The SF in the name stands for “Split Flap” – named for the mechanical information boards seen in airports and train stations the world over – (also known as Solari boards, after the Italian firm that produces them).
The EPIC SF24 was the first time that a Split Flap, an extremely complicated display, has been integrated into a watch, continuing Jacob & Co.’s penchant for pushing the limit of design and production and doing things no watchmaker has ever attempted. The EPIC SF24 is able to display 24 different time zones, allowing the wearer to see, at a glance, two time zones simultaneously.
This year at BaselWorld 2014, Jacob & Co. expands the EPIC SF24 collection with the Black PVD/Blue version, which takes the model in a new, sportier direction.
The SF24 is being introduced in Black PVD Grade 5 Titanium, giving this stunning timepice an entirely new look. The Split Frame cities and hours are against a blue backdrop, and the dial is in blue, as are the two crowns. Even the Alligator strap has a sporty blue topstitch.
The innovative and groundbreaking movement remains the same, using a Concepto movement as a base fitted with the world time-SF24 module developed by Studio 7h38, Jacob & Co.’s movement development workshop. Very easy to read, the watch is also easy to wear, at 45mm, it feels great on the wrist.
At the beginning of his work in watches, Jacob & Co. revolutionized travel time with the famous and iconic Five Time Zones. The SF24, in its original form and in the new blue/black version, proves that the brand is not done revolutionizing just yet.
