Rolex is entering a new era with the oyster perpetual yacht-master a black 18t Everose gold combination on a rubber strab.
This new Yacht-Master is offered in two sizes: 40 mm and a new 37 mm diameter. Its Oyster case in 18 ct Everose gold includes a rotatable bezel fitted with a new Cerachrom insert in black ceramic with polished raised numerals on a matt background. This finish underscores the similar contrast between the polished 18 ct Everose gold watch case and the matt black of the Oysterflex bracelet, dial and Cerachrom insert.
NEW OYSTERFLEX BRACELET
The Yacht-Master’s new Oysterflex bracelet, developed and patented by Rolex, offers a sporty alternative to the metal bracelets without com-promising robustness, waterproofness or reliability. Aesthetically and in its suppleness and comfort, it resembles a rubber strap, whileits resistance is comparable to that of a metal bracelet. For enhanced comfort, the inside of the Oysterflex bracelet is equipped with a patented longitudinal cushion system that stabilizes the watch on the wrist. The bracelet is fitted with an 18 ct Everose gold Oysterlock safety clasp that prevents accidental opening.
CERACHROM BEZEL AND BLACK DIAL
The new Cerachrom insert in black ceramic fitted in the rotatable bezel is true to the Yacht-Master’s identity. The raised numerals and graduations with a highly polished finish stand out clearly against a matt background, allowing the wearer to easily read elapsed times of up to 60 minutes. The matching black dial – a first for this model – contrasts sharply with the broad Chromalight hands and hour markers filled with a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting blue glow. This display offers exceptional legibility both in the daylight and in the dark.
THE WATERPROOF OYSTER CASE
The Yacht-Master’s Oyster case, guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet), is a paragon of robustness, proportion and elegance. The middle case is crafted from a solid block of 18 ct Everose gold, cast by Rolex in its own foundry. Its fluted case back and the winding crown – fitted with the Triplock triple waterproofness system – screw down securely against the case. The crown guard forms an integral part of the middle case. The crystal, with a Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock for easy reading of the date, is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire. The waterproof Oyster case provides optimal protection for the high-precision movement.
CALIBRES 3135 AND 2236
The new 40 mm Yacht-Master is equipped with calibre 3135 and the 37 mm version with calibre 2236, two self-winding mechanical movements entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, 3135 and 2236 are certified Swiss chronometers, a designation reserved for high-precision watches that have passed the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) tests.
